A bit of color in a snowy week: February Quilt 1

Another baby quilt, although this one is a bit larger.

The expectant mom at my church showed me a rainbow of colors she is using for the nursery, and as I started looking through the fabric I had, I noticed that much of those fabrics were designed by Heather Ross. And I knew I needed more--AND that my local store had them.

I decided to use the Shortcake quilt pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew to highlight the fabrics and help me include them all while still keeping a regular rhythm to keep it from being too overwhelming.

And our dog thought this was all about her.

I used a flannel fabric that I had pulled off the shelf to use as the backing for the next quilt I'm working on, and then discovered the colors and little pictures fit way better with this one.

Because it was cold and we had all the snow days (and had planned ahead), my daughter and I also made a chunky fuzzy blanket, after seeing the post about them on Cheryl Arkison's blog. My daughter was able to find the colors she wanted at Walmart.

She wanted colors that would blend in with the dog fur. I wanted something a little more colorful and found a few of those at a different store. Not as many as I had expected, but enough.
