Spring

Our spring began with soccer and daffodils here. I was not sure if I would see the daffodils. For several months they were under a mound of wood from the ice storm in the fall. By the time the wood was removed, the leaves were peeking out and they quickly changed from a fluorescent green to their usual color. And then our snowy, bitterly cold February. They persevered!

And then a bit of soccer, with three scrimmages jammed into one week and then three home games. Last year they played three away games and the season--and school year--ended. It is looking like this year they will get to finish out the last nine weeks of school and the final half of the soccer season.

But first, a bit of a break. We headed to Beavers Bend for a few days over the weekend. I have missed trees and mountains, and this was the best I could find for Oklahoma. And since we still have not recovered from our last camping trip (plus spring weather is a bit unpredictable), we stayed in the cabins there. As an added bonus, we got one of the newly renovated ones. It was lovely!

We spent a lot of time outside, except for I think Sunday afternoon when the rain came through. Perfect napping weather.

Saturday: a long hike and a cookout

Sunday: early morning horse ride for two of us, followed by breakfast, a trip for more groceries, the rain, and then an evening hike

Monday: an early morning hike, kayaking, and an afternoon hike on the other end of the park. And another cookout because, well,  s'mores-- and it is hard to figure out when places are open when you don't have cell service.

Then Tuesday we headed back home. I will have some more pics for the rest of the week later, of our trip today to the Crystal Bridge and then whatever we end up doing on Friday (I work Thursday). So grateful for a break from the routine!
