Strawberry Preserves

This is one of my favorite pictures of my grandma Shannon, not so much because it is a good picture of her but because of the setting. This is her shopping in the local grocery store. Look at the size of the grocery cart!

One of her recipes that is best made from items NOT in the grocery store are her strawberry preserves. Save this one for the spring and get some fresh picked ones from the farmer's market--or your own yard if you are better at keeping them alive than I am.

VELMA’S STRAWBERRY PRESERVES

Measure 3 cups strawberries into a large saucepan. Pile 3 cups sugar in center of berries. Don’t stir. Cook over medium heat. When first bubbles form on edge of pan, set timer for 25 minutes. Don’t stir. Let stand overnight.
