April quilt

This will be fast, since another storm is coming in a few minutes. What a crazy day.

My April quilt plans changed this week. I ended up making a quilt for a friend who is moving away next month. I will post more about that after I give the quilt to her, but here are the pictures. I used 6" squares so it went together really fast. Really--like cut in an afternoon and sewn that evening fast. I finished the quilting and edging tonight after getting out of the basement and cooking dinner.

I used a scrappy binding this time, mainly because I didn't want to go back to the store, but it also seemed to work with this quilt. Most of the fabric came as a set of fat quarters from Hobby Lobby. I added the stripe, polka dot, and black paisley looking fabric.

I still plan to make a May quilt for the girl I mentor. I showed her the fabric already and she loved it. She also wants me to show her how I make one. She said then she could make one when she grows up. I'm still thinking through how to do that.

It's rumbling outside and the rain is starting so I'll stop now. Hopefully it will be a "get-a-good sleep" kinda rain, not a garden and roof destroying mess of hail and wind.

Oh, if you ever get the chance to read A Bus Called Heaven or Junkyard Wonders--DO. Both are marvelous, inspiring new children's books.

Now I'm done.
