Work in Progress Wednesday part 2: making stuff

Since I was gone most of last week, I haven't made a lot of progress on the two quilts I am making. Today is a day off though, so I have made some time to sew.

One project is turning this pile of four patch squares

into these strips

My progress on that this week is that I ironed all of those four patches. I should be able to chain piece them and make better progress next week. I would love to work on it this weekend but where I live, when it is an off weekend for OU, everyone grabs at the chance to schedule big events, like soccer tournaments.

My other work in progress is the starburst quilt, which I have started quilting.

Friday is my next day off (my Sabbath), and I hope to finish the quilting and binding that day. I may squeeze in a bit more quilting tomorrow night after the kids go to bed so I won't feel like I need to sew all day and then miss the whole point of the Sabbath (see previous post). I like the stipple free motion quilting because it is faster than straightline. I am still learning though, so I am glad this one is for me and I can practice a bit.

  1. I like your starburst quilt. I think the stars with the solid color nine patch looks really neat. I can't wait to see it when you are finished!
