Over Christmas break, we spent a lot of time with our family. We also were able to use some of our days off to hang out at some art museums and feed our creative brains (and souls). On a cold day in December three of us headed to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
We began in their sculpture exhibit called Off the Wall, featuring a wide range of sculptures, including this one by Lisa Hoke made of cardboard packaging. It is called Come on Down Oklahoma.
I think this necklace was part of the Victorian Radicals exhibit that closed earlier this week. I loved getting to see works from the Arts and Crafts movement.
We splurged and ate lunch in the museum cafe and then wandered over to the museum store. We all love museum stores. We finished our visit in the Chihuly glass section. I love seeing the glass each time. Someday I will visit some of his exhibits at other museums but never get tired of the one here.
The following week we stayed closer to home and walked over to the Fred Jones Art Museum. We did not have as much time there, but were still able to see most of the museum.

The patterns along the sides reminded me of quilting -- an idea to adapt sometime in the future.
We have several other museums in the state and may try to get to some of them this spring. We can always find inspiration around us though, if we take time to look. I tend to do that much better when we are traveling, away from our everyday. We did have a day or so of ice and snow--something that does not happen much here in Oklahoma--and that is always a breathtakingly beautiful.
