With both of my children, we spent a lot of May celebrating the end of the school year and teh beginnings of something new. For my daughter, it was the end of 7th grade, which to her (and probably most of us), seemed like the longest school year ever. Finishing 6th grade in March and getting the longest summer break, even hunkered down at home for the most part, just made this school year and all of it's "specialness" even longer. She is enjoying her summer break and, well, probably not thinking ahead to 8th grade too much. Her birthday party, maybe, but not school. For Isaac this school year was the end of high school classes and athletics, along with fitting in all of the senior year preparations that are required for college. Finishing up all of that required much celebrating!
First up was Senior Night, the last regular season game at home:

And then the end of year Norman High soccer celebration:

An outdoor graduation was planned for Thursday night, but as is often the case (especially this year, but in Oklahoma always), storms were moving in and they moved the time. Twice. Saturday morning won, and it was a beautiful, cool morning. The outdoor stadium was not as spacious as the indoor facility usually used for graduation so guests were limited--the rest of the family got to come to the party afterwards instead!

After graduation, we met back at the house. Some headed off to eat, and I (and my daughter) headed over to finish final party set up. So grateful for this chance to celebrate with our family, many of whom hadn't seen each other since pre-COVID. A few couldn't be there since it was Memorial weekend and other things that crop up at last minute but it was still a great chance to celebrate with Isaac. And yes, I hired a photographer. I know my limits!
The next day was a chance to celebrate more, this time with our church family.

If you made it through all those pictures--thank you! He finished well, and I am so grateful for these opportunities to celebrate. This summer is a time to rest, have fun, and get ready for the next step as a freshman at OU this fall.
