One day this winter, probably when it was super cold and didn't want to go anywhere--I sorted through the embroidery projects I had stashed away. I had at LEAST 12 of them, some started and some in the box ready to go. I decided that along with one quilt a month I would also try to complete one of each of those kits. So far so good--although we will see how March goes!
In January I made a scrap quilt. I am kind of focused on those right now because all of my scrap bins are jammed full. I usually start with quilts like this one that require a set size and then give up and make improv blocks of color to use up ALL the sizes.
This quilt pattern is called Breaking Waves and was built in 4 pieces. I started with green and yellow scraps and then of course added blue. Those seem to be my go to colors. It is a small throw sized.
The February quilt was part of a quilt-a-long for the Vira quilt, hosted by Blair Stocker. There was a lot of cutting and piecing for this one. I think for the size I wanted to make, it was 80 of these blocks.
I bought a black on white print for the back, but don't seem to have the picture of it in any of the photos I uploaded here. I really like how it turned out! Both of these quilts are now stashed in my sewing room until I figure out what to do with them--if they get to be a gift or get added to the for sale pile.
