July quilt 1: Crossroads

I finished a quilt that was not baby sized! It seems like it has been awhile, probably because I had that string of baby quilts for the Baby Boot Camp. Bigger quilts are a bit harder to photograph though, especially with our ever present Oklahoma winds.

I posted a bit of the background info on it in this post. The blocks were constructed as log cabin blocks with a 6 inch center square and 2.5" strips. Once the strips were added two deep on all sides, I cut the blocks into fourths. I then added the white sashing and gray center squares to complete the block.

I used a gray patterned backing on the back. I didn't want to add a lot more seems or busy-ness to compete with the front. And as is off the case, I used leftover strips from the blacks for the scrappy binding.

Love how this one turned out and look forward to delivering it to it's owner!

  2. What a great pattern. I love a design that looks complicated and isn't. Your color choices make it happen. Well done!

  3. It's beautiful - I love the fresh spring colours! What a great idea to cut up your log cabins and switch them around; very effective.
