the beauty of scraps -- July quilt 2

I pushed through over the weekend and Monday, finishing my scrap quilt for our guest room. This was one of my goals for the finish-a-long , one I was sure I could complete. It is the first bed sized quilt I have made for our family that didn't seem too small when I was finished, probably because I laid it out on the bed itself as I pieced it. I thought about a scrappy binding to use up more of them, but in the end decided on the black and white. The scrappy binding and a couple of other choices I considered got lost against the rest of the quilt. My design assistant (daughter) agreed. The backing was two fabrics I had on hand, and you can kind of see them here. I wanted something that did not require a lot of piecing to avoid competing seams on the front and back. One was a white stripe and one was a floral, both gifts. I chose a loopy daisy for the quilting and that did not go so well. Pink and Green Trellis--one more August quilt

It was a busy family birthday weekend but I FINALLY finished this trellis quilt. I have no idea how long I've been working on it, probably around a year. It has been in a box for most of that time. It had a lot of steps for each block so I needed to work on it a bit at a time. It's a bit shady here but I discovered as I tried to take pictures that I had no where else to get a picture at the house. The pattern is called "Trellis Crossroads" and is from the book Modern Bee . As I think I mentioned before, this is an excellent example of why there are quilting bees (besides the social part). A few people can each make four blocks or so and get an awesome quilt. Doing it on my own was a bit more daunting. One more quilt tackled on my 3rd quarter finish along goals! quilty goodness {another little May quilt}

I knew I was going by my parents' house on Monday, so I worked hard to finish up another of my commissioned quilts so I could make a delivery. Not to them but in town. It was the fourth of six, and I was a little nervous having them in the house, with an artistic little four year old who has boundary issues roaming around in my house. This was the doll size version of one I finished earlier in May . My mom was my quilt holder. She flipped the edge on this one to show the front and back, and I laughed.
